Two-Time World Series Champ Joins BaseballCloud

Jonny Gomes, the two-time World Series Champion, has joined BaseballCloud and will preside as its Director of Strategic Partnerships, along with playing an active role within the Product Development team.

LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, March 2, 2022 — Jonny Gomes brings an impressive resume and veteran experience to the BaseballCloud team with over 13 years in the big leagues on eight different teams alongside international experience, playing in two different countries. He made three World Series appearances and won two championships with the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox. Gomes played winter ball in Mexico, winning the Caribbean

World Series in 2004; and finished his playing days with a stint in Japan for the Rakuten Eagles.

Gomes’ role in the company will be leading strategic partnerships, heading up overseas relationships, and participating in a role with the expansion of the company’s optical tracking system, Yakkertech.

Yakkertech is an optical tracking system that was founded in 2017 with the goal to provide revolutionary optical solutions in the amateur space. Yakkertech is powered by the same concept of vision technology used by Major League Baseball since the 2020 season. The trailblazing software and camera systems create a robust analysis of pitching and hitting that continues to push the boundaries of the sports technology industry.

Through Gomes’ experience and understanding of what changes need to be made, he will contribute to improving and developing new products. Gomes will also help increase BaseballCloud and Yakkertech’s influence overseas as the game continues to gain international popularity. He is currently working on a podcast with BaseballCloud to discuss the role of technology and data in the industry.

Before joining the team, Gomes had worked closely with BaseballCloud co-founder, Joe Sleiman, over the past year on improving products for what the industry needs moving forward. He is excited to join forces alongside Sleiman, “Being on the same team with one of the most successful businessmen and company leaders I’ve ever shared space with is a true honor.”

BaseballCloud CEO, Kevin Davidson, highlights what adding Gomes means for the company and advancement in the industry, “When Jonny told me he thinks BaseballCloud is one of the most performance enhancing tools in the Industry, I knew then we had to have him.”

“I spent countless hours in the video room diving into numbers and videos to create an advanced scouting report for every pitcher. Today, those advanced scouting reports are just a click of a button away.  I’ve done the work and now ready to share how understanding numbers, stats, and sabermetrics can boost your individual and team results instantly.”

Gomes is the first former MLB player to join the BaseballCloud team, as they continue to expand their products and influence in all levels of the game.

BaseballCloud started in 2017 as a response to the divide between the quantity of data available in baseball and the quality of available tools used to analyze it. The first product, BCTeam, gave college baseball coaches and players a way to make use of ball flight data. The company has since grown across baseball and softball with multiple visualization tools to help users understand data, create realistic renditions of performance, and even customize stadium designs to mimic home-field conditions.
