D1 Rerun March 26-28

It was a weekend of sweeps in the SEC as Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Arkansas all take 3 games from their conference opponents. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t drama though because it was a wild weekend in Knoxville, and the D1 Rerun is here to cover it all!

Evan Russell brought the thunder for the Volunteers as he hits three bombs in Saturday’s game two before the game was suspended due to lightning.

Game two was resumed on Sunday and allowed Tennessee to end up with two walk off wins in one day! This was the second time in program history that Tennessee has swept LSU and the Vols are 5-1 in conference play to start off the season.

Dylan Crews continued to mash for the Tigers as he goes dead center with this one.

Christian Franklin was on FIRE this weekend hitting three bombs as the Razorbacks ride his bat to a sweep of Mississippi State.

Landon Sims continues to be a stopper on the mound with this laser beam fastball. That is what you call a fastball with ride, kids.

Another one of those perfectly back spun fastballs in the mid 90s, with elite spin, and around a 12:30 tilt.

Continuing on with the SEC sweep trend, South Carolina takes three games against UF including this wild 14th inning finish on Friday night!

And with our last SEC sweep of the weekend we have Vanderbilt taking all three from Missouri. If you haven’t heard, Vanderbilt’s Friday and Saturday night starters are pretty good.

And Jack Leiter HATES giving up hits.

Others news around college baseball:

DBU takes 3 of 4 from UT Rio Grande Valley including a pair of walk offs.

Northwestern’s Anthony Calarco hits three bombs as they take 2 of 3 from in-state rival Illinois.

Bigger than baseball. Troy honors former UCF commit, Joe Skinner, and his passing in 2016 from Leukemia. Troy’s left fielder, Rigsby Mosely, was a high school teammate of Skinner’s and has a “#SkinnerStrong” tattoo to remember his friend. UCF does an incredible job every year of honoring the player that was committed to be a Knight, but unfortunately never got the opportunity. Joe’s strength during his battle with cancer inspires the entire Orlando community and beyond.

We wrap up this week’s D1 Rerun with a couple of the best bat flips from the weekend!

First, Nathan Lyons from Little Rock

And next, Cam Williams from Texas

See you guys next week with the D1 Rerun!
